Default Idris Elba, 3D Portrait

Hi, This I my latest work that I started about 3 1/2 months ago. This was my attempt to create a realistic portrait of the actor Idris Elba (Real name Idrissa).
A special thanks to those on CGFeedback.com who gave me comments and critiques.

Renders done in Maya with Vray, I have a lot of info on this project and I hope to create a breakdown soon.
Let me know what you think, Thanks!

A second render, portrait style, in a kind of presidential pose. Just for fun.

so awesome man.
only crits would be it feels a lil bit to shinny and the texturing on the upper lip doesn't look "real" , coud be though.

congrats!

Nice work. Be cool to see some shader settings if possible. You use Maya hair for the hair?

Thanks for the comments everybody, I'm glad you guys like it.

konkai - I'm not quite sure what your referring to when you point out the collar and beard. I guess depending on what point in time you pull reference of Idris Elba, he is clean shaven or has more facial hair than I added. I wanted to go with something in the middle and related to his look in Pacific Rim as Stacker Pentecost.

Heres a link to the image I based a lot of him on - http://assets1.ignimgs.com/vid/thumb...acific-Rim.jpg

Polyjunky - All the hair is actually created in ZBrush with fibermesh. All the hair is exported geometry with the VRayHair3_Mtl attached, except the eyebrows which are running Maya dynamic hair.

I do plan on doing something of a project tutorial/breakdown, but I need a break from looking at my monitor.

THX

Thanks for the info, I used Shave and a haircut when I worked on Omar and Vray didn't like it that much! Look forward to any new info you shed on your model. Cheers.

Really great work. The right side of his jaw falls into complete black on my Cintiq. Maybe adjust the rim/kicker light so it hit's his jaw line a bit.

Thanks MrGuy - I don't disagree... In an attempt to do something closer to a cinematic lighting scenario I tried to go for something more dramatic as apposed to blanket-lighting it like it was a homework project. I guess these are the risk I take.
