Great model and render tests Vimmy Maybe the subsurface is slightly too strong and makes the face look a bit waxy, but still looks great!
The second render is my fav so far as you managed to retain the skin bump details , I will be watching this thread with great interest !

Cheers

P.

Excellent head,

It would look interesting if his nose had some small blood vessels close to the skin surface.
Also a little bit less sss on his lips.

Nice sculpt! The new vray skin shader is great, I like it much more than MR´s fast skin.

Edit: Or do you use a Vray Mtl for this? it´s also great for skin, just slower.

PascalR:Yea i'm totally agrea with you, the sss it a bit to strong, it will be fix in my next post. Same thing about the bump detail. I actually use a standard area -1 sampler( antialiasing), my mistake. I lost a bunch of details with this low sampling. But merci Pascal pour le comment. Et c'est cool d'avoir Starter un nouveau forum, Y'a des truc de super qualité ici.

Garrick: yea that was in my plan, i always prefer to start with a neutral skin sub and diffuse, than start testing render, and retweak and add detail in my map. cheer Yea my sss as been fix, it was a big to strong.

oglu: Well nothing fency actually, some plane lights, with a sIBL envirroment as a base, ( i mean i start from that) and retweak the HDRI maps intensity. I use Linear workflow to. for natural and soft environnement light, you just get much soft render. Turn on GI, with irradiante map as first and light cache as second bounce. And Iuse a vray blend mix with vray standard mat, to use reflection, the one in the sss2 is kinda primitive, specialy with the fresnel and the fact that is glossinnes seam to use the same as the specular.

And a screen shot of the material. I use milk whole as base preset

And i maybe going to have one more map in specular glossiness.

collings: Thank Nicolas, i should post some update soon.

Manuel Poehlau: Yea i much more preffer Vray in general, the skin shader is kinda tricky to setup, but i guess you can acheive really cool result with it.

i use as you can see a sss2, but vray mat can work to, just a bit harder to setup a front scatter well balance with the diffuse and sub map.

fantasymaster: thanx man, yea i post some info on oglu reply.
