Something I've been meaning to post here, an alien unsure of the future, looking off into world all to familiar.

The idea here was to take sort of a 1950's alien and modernize it, or at least give it some heart.

-----------------------and some progress of what lead to it----------------------------

concept of the suit (not used in final image):

some skin tests in mental ray:

Nice work I really like the head.
I think the renders looks a little bit too blurry but the finished image is really nice anyway

Keep up the good work !

Great character, love the mouth expression. I agree about the dof being too strong, also the ears are a bit too smooth and simple compared to the rest of the face, I'd add more subtle break up in the sculpt.
Nice work !

Great character Matthew!

He could easily fit in one of the MIB! I think I prefer the V1 of the skin ( Because of the SSS in the ears ). The carunculas are a bit bright / pink and there is kind of a strange moire / stretch effect on his fabric. I agree with the others for the DOF / grain being a bit strong, but it's certainly on purpose since you wanted to depict a 1950ish modernised alien.

Cool stuff otherwise!

Wow thanks everyone for such great feed back. I agree the Dof is a bit much but it was somewhat intentional. Thank you all, its great being a part of such a talented community that actually acts as a community

interesting design... I personally don't like those tentacles on his had.. With that fancy costume it'd be cool to have him wear sth on the head that might have antennae of some sort. As it is now it looks like just a piece of mesh stretched out of the head without reason... They have no structure to them

also the body feels quite disconnected and at a lower level than the face, but the final image is worth a top row.
Cheers!

well thank you both for your critiques, though I have to admit that some of that was intentional. As being based on a 1950s space man from the movies, the look of them was very unique.
That said, the model's body to the head is a bit disjointed, something I think came from the idea of intentional trying to make it clunky. Ill def work on it, thanks for the crit

Thanks for the top row. Its appreciated

Nice work! I think the eyeballs may be a little too large for the head, the sclera, not the pupils. The way the eyeball sits in the socket doesn't seem snug. I like the more muted down color scheme in Version 2.
