about your blender question. Blender doesn't do ngons. So you cant delete an edge like that without deleting the faces because it would create an ngon. However if you have two tris next to each other to create a quad, you can delete the edge by selecing the two tris and hit the "f" key. Or if you have more than 2 tris that you need converted to quads, you can hit "alt j". And incase you were wondering, "ctrl t" will convert quads to tris.
