ive just finished the ears. a surprisingly challenging task with this sort of lighting.
cause normally its just fine to keep the ears in a half shadow and light them from behind to get the nice scattering effect, that usually sells the whole idea of a realistic ear render. but without it, it was quite a task to make them not to look too fake and cg.

but finally a result im happy with :


there is bit of a texture stretching, due the fact that i wanted a single piece uv shell without cutting the ears out. but i can live with it.

as for the skin shader as a whole, i pretty much nailed it in two of my lighting scenarios, gotta make two more, tweak the textures here and there and i will call it final

the shader tree looks something like this :
