Default Jurassic Park: Origins

Hi,

My name is Julien Romeo and I'm a 3d modeler based in London.
I would like to present you a fanfilm project on which I work since seven years now. I will direct it, and I made the modelling of the dinosaurs and some hard surface ( not all hard surface, friends are helping me).

Jurassic Park: Origins is a non-profit, fan-made, short-film project that will be a prequel to the original "Jurassic Park" movie released in 1993. The film will seek to tell more of the backstory about the creation of the dinosaurs.

Of course, the film will have plenty of dinosaur interaction; JPOrigins has a team of CGI professionals who will be bringing the dinosaurs to life (people from MPC, Framestore, Weta Digital and tons of freelance workers).

For a number of reasons, the film will be non-profit, and nobody involved with the project will gain financially in any way. For this reason, we are seeking community involvement and CG artists to make this project possible. We're currently in pre-production and are working hard make sure the project will be as awesome as possible.

During the process myself and my co-director Ian Cresswell travelled to Kauai and Oahu two times (2012 and 2013) to film some plates in the exacts same location than the original movie, even the most remote (only possible to reach but helicopter or in the middle of the jungle)

or the private property like the valley house, where they built the visitor center (sold for 28 million dollars).

I got two visits of Stan Winston studio and still have great feedback from the team, I don't miss to have diner with them during my holidays in L.A.
These guys are friends now and gave me awesome advices during the dino building.

Here is a picture with Matt Winston, the son of Stan Winston father of the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park

I even succeded to met Steven Spielberg and show him the project two years ago, I hope he'll see our progress soon.

Half of the dinosaurs were made from scan of original jurassic park 1:5 maquettes, the raptor head, triceratops and T-Rex bust were made from a scan of the full size animatronic. (two of them based in orlando and the raptor bust was a gift and is at home )

We plan to come back in Hawaii in 2015 to film the movie, we will use professionnal drone (Ian is a professionnal drone pilot and cameraman) and we will film the movie in 4K with a Panasonic GH4.

Here is a video we made some time ago to explain what the project is, sorry for my accent, I can't get rid of it.

And here is the teaser we just released this week, it's not perfect, we are a very small team and lot of people have to make job they are not supposed to do. Modeller making compositing, animator making rigging and skinning ... We hope that teaser may help to ind more artists and JP lover to help us.

I hope you'll like the project, friendly, Julien.

I agree with Pascal. Incredible dedication! Have you posted this in other forums too? Really great work! Also I see you went on the ATV ride to where the filmed the running scene with all the dinosaurs! Really stupid ATV ride but the view and destination were amazing! Haha. Keep up the good work. Hope you get it done in a timely manner.

Thanks a lot It's been a very long road to have all the dinos done, and create an awesome vfx crew to make it. Let's hope JP fans will be happy with it.
