Hello everyone,
My name is Marcus Jackson and I aspire to be a character modeler in the VFX industry. Hopefully, I can break into the industry sometime soon. There are a lot of very talented artists here and you guys inspire me on a daily basis. Anyways, here is my latest piece. It is inspired from a painting of Conan the Barbarian done by Frank Frazetta. I hope you like it. Comments and Critiques are very welcome.

Nice work, I think Conan's chest looks great , very nice detailing.
The LHS hand pose looks a bit off though, here is a gif from the original painting:

Also I am not sure about the connection between the hip and legs from the side view, it's like the thigh is too thick or the hip too thin.
Are you planning on fixing the arms crashing into the chest?
Great wip!

Cheers

i really like the overall picture, the details need some work like the hardbody stuff and certain anatomy areas, like the back of the male thigh but overall its a really great sculpt, good job.

PascalR - Thank you for the kind words and very generous critique. I can't believe that I didn't notice the crashing lol. However, I think I have fixed it along with the hand and hip.

gkaine - Thank you

Here are some Mental Ray renders from Maya. Please let me know if something else seems off (except the hair, that is a placeholder:)), thank you.

Cool update! Something is bothering me with the lady's leg from the side view. There is some kind of pinching happening in the hips and the knee/calves area feels a bit straight and sharp to me.
Will you add more break up on the ground?
Cool stuff!

Nice modeling. I like the overall feeling of the pose. However, there are some parts that are bothering me. I would have to agree with Pascal with lady's thigh being little too sharp or crease. Conan's hamstring is little bit off too. Straight vertical line is little awkward. Other than that, AWESOME WORK!!!

looking cool man, i'm agreed with the other's comment.
i also think there is also an issue with the male's hips/thigh area.
I did a little paintover and compared it with the reference. hope it helps and show my point ^^.

Thank you for the kind words friends

PascalR: Thank you, I can't believe I haven't noticed that either. I will fix it asap. The ground is a placeholder right now.

dr.kim: Thanks, yeah, I don't like that "hamstring line" either. It started off as an anatomy reference cut and I guess I didn't do anything with it yet.:)

collings: Thanks a lot for the help man, I have a version of him with a correct hip/thigh ratio, but it made the silhouette less interesting. I am still trying to figure out a solution.
