Hello everyone!
I've been lurking here for a while and decided I should post something.
This is a remake of a character I did for the Action Hero contest over on ZBC earlier this year. I wasn't really happy with my entry so I have been working on improving it. Here's where I'm up to at the moment and I've also attached the ZBrush render of the original version plus some recent WIP images. Any C&Cs most welcome :)

Hey, I like the new pose much better! Her right leg seems to loose a bit too much volume on the bum part and it looks like it crashes into the belly. It would probably help to re shape the belly, add some skin folds there to suggest some kind of interaction leg/belly. Also her left hand looks like it was rotated a little bit too much.
Keep it up

Hey Pascal, thanks for your input! I'll take a look at that leg. I think I may have exaggerated the hand too much so I'll amend that soon. Here's some more grabs with some very minor tweaks but on a grey background this time.

Thank you Mr Collings!
Here's an update. Taken her back into Maya for some MR renders. Hair (which is causing me problems!) and liquid are just painted on. Once I get the hair sorted out I'll post some more images.

Nice to see you're still working on this one  Looking nice, the googles look kind of flat and I am not reading the glass parts so well. Are you still working with the shaders ? (before I go ahead and comment on the metal and skin)
Good luck with the hair, always a big deal to get them right :)
Keep it up:dance:

Hey Pascal. Thanks for your reply. Yes I'm still working on the goggles. But any comments you can give me on ANY of the shaders will be most helpful :)

Sure!
metal: The diffuse is too high and it needs some reflection and bump. I would add scratches on the knees.
skin: Same diffuse issue, so I would lower the diffuse and crank up the subsurface to avoid the plastic look. It also needs some reflection break up and fine bump detailing. She looks very pale but it could be intentional.
Keep it up:thumbsup:

Hey Pascal, thanks for the comments. I've now done away with the goggles. They just weren't working with the hair. Her paleness is intentional. I've been really struggling with the hair. After reading the 'hair solutions' thread on this site I've added the p_hairTK shader to the hair which is working a bit better. I just need to improve the shape and tweak the specularity as well as adding a proper cut map. Here's my first render with everything together.

Cool! For the hair, they look very dense and the hair line is quite sharp. You'll probably need to play with some opacity settings to get a bit of softness in there.
The liquid stuff coming out of her arms, would it be better if they didn't end at the same height? One could be very long, another short,etc...
Keep it up!
Cheers

Thanks Pascal. I've tried to work something out a bit better for the hair. I've battled through Shave and a Haircut's various bugs on the mac but I think I've arrived at something I'm happy with. I've had to render the hair as geometry. Still some tweaks to do but I think I'm almost there :)
