Mudbox is implementing all the features that are current in Zbrush, and in a simpler way.

Trying to think what can Zbrush offer than Mudbox cant? Shadowbox? Spotlight is nice for sculpting and polypainting. On the flipside Mudbox texturing tools are far ahead in terms of painting in uv space.

I like polypaint but if they could also offer uv painting then it would be more attractive.

But in terms of sculpting Zbrush still has a better feel but mudbox implementation of its features are so attractive.

Pixologic have stuck by its polypainting method as the best way to paint, surely they must realize that they MUST implement this to stay relevant and in the game.

Yeah and this version of mudbox is really cool to bring Ptex file format support with new occlusion method to bake better occlusion file texture directly from mudbox.

this is really nice to see all the feature available in this point 5 release.

on sad side I didn't see any news about maya subscription version, I hope to have more about this soon, and to not hve to wait 2012 release next year to get a new version of maya.

Maya stuff here

Maybe not so much for maya - no one making song a dance about it. Craft animation tools and substances -no renderer though. Some FX presets

@tonytrout
yes the grayscale of the texture...
its really cool to paint the freeze mask into a texture cause you are able to reuse them...

@PascalR

Glancing through the Autodesk subscription site today noticed there is an SP1 update for Mudbox 2011 with some texture and grab brush corruption fixes and save non geo associated textures. Once again I am overwhelmed with the notification I get. clap, but I shouldn't be so negative should I.
