Not CG, but impressive, especially if you're a photographer and follow sites like Shorpy.com (http://www.shorpy.com).

This is a series of photographs taken 100 years ago in various parts of Russia. Color film did not exist yet, but color filters for black and white film did. So the photographer took 3 rapid exposures using red, green, and blue filters. The results were "colorized" later.
It's hard to tell that these were not shot with actual color film, which is a testament to the process. But it's interesting to note the exposures where subjects moved, and their effects on the final piece.
