Hi everyone! this is my first 3d character i started a few month ago. I just finished to export objects from Maya and i'm now ready to get more details. There are more accessories and weapons to come but that's the overall silhouette. I wish i could optimise this work for animation as much as possible.

Cool first character, I know it is stylized but those arms seem a bit too long. Torso looks good, pecs shape becomes a bit lumpy at the shoulders connection, and I would break up skin fold under the lower lip.

Keep it up :beerchug:

Thanx Pascal! I really appreciate!

You're right! For the Pecs/Shoulder connection, i think i have to correct the whole line, something seems to be wrong near the shoulder/arm connection also.

After a bunch of tests i just decided to use the rig MS(Maya Software) for the shave and Mental Ray for the rest.

This is the result of the first day of tests. I'm pretty happy with it but i have to give it more shape and variety.

at least, i'm fixed with those fur pieces in ZBrush.

Hi guyz, I switched from Mental Ray/Maya Software to Renderman For Maya 4. It's a bit hard for me to give up Shave and a haircut but for this kind of project, i think it shoulds be better to use benefits of a reyes renderer. I'm also trying to find my way with the SSS attribute :banghead:

i have a lot of work so the evolution is a little slow :(

1/This is a first sketch of the Scene i made. But it looks to primitive. Even if i think we could have a good contrast between a very advanced civilisation and a great love of nature. But at the end we decided to not develop this land which i called Srinagar.

2/A sketch of an animal you can easily meet on the area. If you want a good advice don't scare them...

3/One of my pre-production tests with Renderman just to learn about displacement/Skin shader/Ptc/Passes/Aov. I will try to render the Infinite mesh for a more detailled test.

And this is a little sculpt update. need a lot of work.

One little update on this project with a concept art of Makaku created by my friend Ntocha, this is his vision of the Monkey King We trying to develop something different, not easy... He is the Author, but we are trying to bring all things we love on this dude together, very funny!

I can't wait to show you guys how this Red gorilla use those guns  we are still in preproduction testing Renderman For Maya, redesigning, storyboarding and trying to keep an eye on all details, as much as possible.

As I said this is my test on the skin shader (also posted on the Infinite thread)

i will now basically try to work with the fur/hair to understand how we can get what we need and if it's possible...

Hi guys. it's been a long time. My Wacom was dead and it was painful to work at home with my mouse. Hopefully, i get a new one now. I spent this whole week end playing with one of my previous projects, in order to change my 3D mind a little. The work is in progress. Rendered with Renderman and comped with Nuke. There is no texture/shading work.

Good to see some updates on this guy, I like the general mood. Is the cloth going to be simulated or hand sculpted once posed? Some of the folds on the jacket feel kind of rubbery around the armpit.

Looking forward to more.

cheers

It kinda of has that shinobi ninja look too it- looks good.
Like the skin shader too, did you say that was Renderman?

Thanks guys!

Pascal: With Ntocha, we wanted a kind of combination of both. it has to be like a thick leather at the end, a sort of "Bombardier". Hopefully, i can easily make modifications as the model is called by reference in my scene. By the way, the vest has one other problem like a small interpenetration on the right shoulder, no choice i will go back to Zbrush later on. :-)

Polyman: Yes exactly! He's a kind of Adventurer-Shinobi. :-D
I'm indeed using Renderman for rendering, It allows me to be more free with displacement and fur/hair. It's also very good for look development.
