Hey!
First time posting at this forum. My friend Jonas (Subdivme) recommended me this forum a while back because it's little smaller community where your able to get serious and really constructive feedback by talented industry people. That I like! :)
So here's my first piece.
Being a sci-fi nerd and really enjoying the new Star Trek movie, I thought I'd do my own design of a Star Trek character.
Although this is a finished piece, I'd really like to hear what you have to say about it.
Thanks!

:welcome:Christopher!
Great character and very efficient way of presenting your work:thumbsup: Just to be picky, I think the skin could benefit from some more subsurface, especially around the lips and eye area where you get those very dark shadows. Maybe a little bit more reflection on the eyes to make them pop out more.
Great workclap

I agree. You become blind after a while and start to miss the more obvious errors. And please, be picky! There's always room for improvement, that's why I'm here. :) Thanks again!

Fantastic character Chris :D
I saw it on ZBC, and one of the things that really stood out to, was the hands which had amazing details and I really loved the design (actually the entire character has a sweet design ;)). But maybe, the hands are a bit to big for the rest of the body, the face seams very feminine, while the hands seams big and meaty.
But awesome character!

Super nice character and render !
I'm agree with the comments of Pascal and Storm, and I will add one comment on the elbow area I think you have a little bit loose the shape when you pose it, I quickly photoshop your picture to show you what I think

Hmm... Yeah, that was intentional to be more like a gecko, but there seems to be a few who comment on that specifically so it might have been a bad design choice. Thanks!

I might have boosted that muscle a bit too much. I agree, your photoshoped version does look better.

you found your way here too I see ;)
I actually do have some crit for you as well :)
1: Why did you choose not do display the raygun better? Your full render of it looks awesome! After all that effort I would have let her hold it or made a smaller holster.
Well not much of crit but anyway hehe..
keep up the "awesomesauce" ;)

Thanks! Yeah, you can never add too much detail. Even though I always do add too much detail. Make sense of that. :)

That I did. Feels like I'm all over the place now days. :)
The reason why I didn't show off the phaser more than I did was because I didn't want to draw too much attention to it. I started modeling the phaser right before I started on the character I think. Hadn't done any hard surface modelling for sometime so I felt it would be a nice break to make a high detailed model.
The holster looks pretty much like the ref-pics I found for it so I chose to keep it that way. I was afraid it would be too much "bling" if I didn't. :)

Hey,
Really nice character. Love the cloth texture. If I had any crits they would be that the left hands silhouette could be clearer. Its hard to to tell if the hand is grabbing the gun or is it cautiously hovering near the gun. This can affect her personality, and maybe not what you had in mind. Another suggestion, the right arm is very hot and against the red shirt the forearm looks to be in a different space, and also this pulls the eye here. Could just bring the levels down a touch.
But hey, great image, great work.
Cheers

Hi I really love this piece and the choice of colors :)
One little comment: I guess there is a bit of volume loss on the left elbow. This according to human anatomy, aliens are always...aliens :D
Everything looks fine except the eyes, just wished he had more expression there, instead of all that dark. Great job.
