what do you think are all these fine details sculpted..?

or is he painting a dispmap..? or both..?
there are some alphas in his download section...
ive played with them but im not sure what and how he is doing his stuff...

That stuff looks great!

I suspect he's sculpting it all. At least I know he could be. Even if you have to step up into ZB's HD Geometry mode. But he could get most of this without HD geo I think, and just a lot of ram.

a lot of ram wouldnt help with zbrush... cause z is still a 32bit app...
its using onls 4gig... so im wondering...

Actually, that's an interesting discussion.

Yes, ZB is a 32-bit application, but we have also noticed that if we give it more than 4GB, it can handle more detail. I've got 8GB in my machine and ZB is giving me a MaxPolyPerMesh value of 21. With 4GB, it's closer to 12 I believe.

We've been confused about this at work because we know that ZB is a 32-bit app, but in practice, it seems to see more than 4GB if it's there.

Looks like combination of displacement and texture painted.

Maybe send him an email, seems like he keeps his website up to date these days, so i'm sure he checks his emails.
