hahahahahahah!

awesome work, michel.
i loved the characters in kung fu panda more than the film.
looks like you did a great job, translating from 2d to 3d.

thanks all :)

Maruyesh: I will give it a try, my first idea was just to show it on white background and white stand to just focus on the character, but I get loose because the sword had some pure white reflections on some angles and was disapearing on the white bg, then I tried with a subtil gradiant on the bg but I had some banding problem after the compression ... blabla bla ... I did some update on the images to get a more light bg . I will update soon the turn around also, and the pictures for the roc textures.

really cool character design, nice model and render man :)
i'll just have a comment, the scale under his head looks too much like a wireframe to me, i actually thought at first that it was a composite of the wireframe on top of the model.

collings: I understand the confusion with the grid pattern but I choose to follow the original design, I should perhaps work more on the integration of these lignes :)

Pascal: thanks a lot :)
I did the model in maya using classical polygon modeling and the sculpt polygon tool (I'm a old school modeler, it' faster for me :) ). I used an autorig to pose it with quick skinning and object warped on simple geometry. Then I did the details and maps in mudbox. For the rendering I used mental ray with one main light ( spot with raytrace shadows ) one fill light ( directionnal without shadows ) and final gathering ( I put a sphere in the scene with a procedural map to get the ambiant lighting and the reflections).I used a lot of procedural texture also (armor, tongue..). It took 7mn by frame (2k) on a mac book pro. I'll post some wireframe when I'll come back from my holidays :)
