I am having to make this helmet for work and no matter what I do I cannot get rid of the bumps. Ive included a smooth and a wireframe image to show you what I have.
I would really appreciate any help on this.
Thanks

I've marked up where I would adjust things. It's experimental of course. Just try different things and see what works. Without actually doing it it's hard to say what the effect on the bump around the star will be.
Would like to know what others would do too. I run into this stuff a lot.

Hey thanks for the help Tim. I did that very thing as soon as I posted this, and tried to adjust some more verts, but the bump is still there.
Yeah this is one of those things that is just mind boggling when it comes to hard surface modeling.
Thanks again for the help. The hunt continues

It's that damn high-valence point. Those stars on curved surfaces are a real nuisance. I'm dealing with one right now as a matter of fact.
I would suggest you not spend too much time on it if you've got a long to-do list right behind it. There's a high chance that once you texture, shade, and render things, this may not even be noticeable. Unless you put a super reflective material on it.

HA! man aint that the truth. those bastards can drive me to the brink of insanity.
I think your right, for now, im just going to keep modeling the rest of it and hopefully by the end of today, we may have a solution
Thanks Tim

I'd suggest making the topology more grid like. Also probably make the edges a bit more evenly spaced than in my image.
