Hi

I decided to take a head model I did a couple of month's ago and give it a little polish with vray's sss2 material.
I was aiming for a realistic/ Cartoony character with allot of Style, this is what came out .
Took me way to long to work on it , so I'm quite happy I finished it.(Bg is in an image)
Feedback and critique is always welcome

you can check high resolution version here : www.dabush.net/Smokin' - High.jpg (http://www.dabush.net/Smokin%27%20-%20High.jpg)

I really like where the neck meets the shoulders - the skin shader, shirt, etc. I also like that he's placed in the wild west, but is smoking a cig that has a filter on it. Is the gun 3d or is that a photo?

I think his right nostril has too strong of a crease around them. And maybe the nasal septum is too broad? I also think that the eyes would look better with a different eyelash solution. Looks too spikey/thick. I might also weather or dirty up the hat a bit. Something about the dark ring around the iris, or perhaps the 'white' color on the eye isn't working. I like the spikey-ness of the beard.

Keep it up, take this further!

I agree with charkins, and the nostrils thickness is a bit off, also the way the nose is angled is implying a very pronounced facial expression which I can't see here. The hair look more like clean fur than groomed hair to me, it'd be nice to get some specular in there to understand the shape a bit better. I would also add some veins into the sclera so it doesn't look that white.
I like your lighting and shaders, the skin is slightly over exposed but I like the general mood.
Keep it up:thumbsup:

Thank you all for your comments , I agree with all of them. I also posted this image in cg-talk but I didn't received any real feedback there so I'm glad I found this site!

Took me quite some time to finish this model , working late after work hours , I guess after seeing it so many times I became blind to those areas you mentioned and now when you point it out I suddenly see it.
The hair , the eyes, eyelash ,nose, cigarette and hat , should be improved (the gun is 3d, the smoke is a photo)
Looking at it now it does seem the nose is way too angled , I was trying to give him a half a smile but I guess for the nose to bend this much the expression need to be exaggerated
I'm currently working on a new head , I will defiantly take these comments there.

Thanks again
