hey ho ah

Been checking what was happening in here over the last weeks and I'm thrilled to see there's some real feedback going on that is beyond the regular Hoo and Haa one can see of forums. That's a GOOD thing.

Here's one of my latest personal illustration, part of a series I've been working on since I moved in California called "Think Tank".

Introducing, ROLLERGIRL.
Hope you'll enjoy.
It's designed for print, 4k I think...
Photoshop and Painter.

great to see you posting here Loic, this one is looking spot on man.
I was wondering something about the process, are you doing always everything from your own twisted mind or did you start from a photo reference as a starting point for inspiration ?

hey Nicolas,
I almost always start from something ; it can be a photo, a texture, a CG model,... just something, as I'm scared of the white page/screen.

For a portrait like this one, the interpretation relies in the colors and the textural aspect - the subject, the pose, are in the ref I've shot already.

For some of my other illustrations, I just let the twisted mind do what it wants with what it's given to work with. I come from a graphic design background and my main reference remains David Carson and the principle of intuition. I react on things, turn them into something else. That's another reason why I work in digital. I can see stuff changing in real time in front of me and make my decisions live.

I'm bringing more and more drawing into that mess, and I'm afraid the Artsy demons are going to win the battle that's taking place in me

Dood, I can't believe I didn't leave a comment! Nice palette and calligraphy man. I'd love to see more posts either here or a bunch of fast sketches in the sketchbook section.

I really like the look that you are going for with the natural brushiness of the surface!
