I have finally finished the Boxing Kangaroo image!

It was created as the base for a tutorial that teaches how to create a cartoon animal from scratch. The tutorial will be published in the 3D Creative Magazine separated in 3 chapters. The first one will come out in the June issue.

You can also see a turntable of the ZBrush model in this link (http://zeoyn.cgsociety.org/gallery/873381/)

I hope you like it!

great lighting, comp, colors..
what did you render the fur with? it combines very well to the model

gal> Thanks! The fur is a Mental Ray ArchDesign material with textures for the diffuse, specular, reflection glossiness and self illumination. It looked good in the central areas of the model, but the silhouette looked faked, because the fur didn't show up, so I decided to paint it in Photoshop :D
If the objective is to create a still image, it works fine. :)

really, there is no way i would have known it is painted. as i said it looks perfectly matched. great output in the end! i guess the post work really helped to place everything together as well. just for general info, do you work with passes, light passes or basically take out a cohesive render out of 3d and do some post work & fur painting :) over it?

Looks great :)

gal> In this image I have made one occlusion pass and a glare pass (for the spotlights on top) besides the main render. Then in Photoshop I have painted the fur silhouette, added the smoke, corrected the colors and overlaid a bit of texture. As this was for a tutorial that icluded the lighting of the scene, I have tried to make a good light setup and minimize the post production. :)

MikeN> Thanks! ;)
