Ok I've been thinking about this one for a while and since there's nearly 2 more months to go I think I do have a chance of finishing it still :) so I'm in... I know I'm good at not finishing stuff for competitions but there's always hope and what matters most, in the end, is fun :D

my idea - Musketeer Pin-up.

here are the main refs:

http://mdadela.com/ssp_director/albums/album-12/lg/pinup_musketeer.jpg

so I'm thinking of her sitting in a chair like the refs and holding a rapier the way you see many hot chicks holding the whip  in both hands... I'll probably have her hat hanging on the top of the chair.
I'm also thinking of doing her skimpy outfit along the lines of the 2 conversing chaps on the white image in the middle [with this military 17nth century flare]

well there it is... I'll hopefully get down to it today :) Cheers

alright - played around with the proportions today a bit [she's in heels] and started thinking of what kind of face I want to go with... I really like the faces on Baron Von Lind's pin-ups - they look cheerful and teasing at the same time which is what I want for her... Don't know what hair style I'll go with so I just pushed a z-sketch around today ;)
well she looks a bit too much like miss Marvel without the clothes 0_o [thanks Sideshow lol] but I'll get there eventually ;)
anyway 'nuff talkin'

Cool start Mag! I like her face, her hips could be wider imho but depends on the clothing I guess.
Cheers!

Thanks Nick

ok so I played around with the chair idea and figured that it won't work the way I wanted it to - the rapier+ the leg up is too much in one spot. And well without the rapier she looks too cute and too much like a Chanel magazine campaign photo. She needs more spank and zest.
So I think I'll have her standing in a more provocative pose with the rapier as if she were holding a whip... Anyway here's the sitting pose with sketch-over ;), so you see what I mean. I thought I'd throw it out there and see what you guys think before I move on, maybe you'll have better ideas.

Its pretty hard to put her in any action pose with the rapier as it will seem she needs something/someone else to interact with and I guess not really a 'pinup" pose. I cant think of anything more interesting for a static pose than standing around doing some suggestive bending with the sword, leaning on sword etc. The chair has possibilities but it doesnt give you as much opportunity to show off the fancy frockcoat I imagine you will do. put her on a horse? :)

Glad to have you in this Intervain. The quality of your work sets my expectations high for this piece, no pressure.

I believe a seated pose may work, just not the leg over chair one. The use of era clothes trimmed down to Pin-up styling is brilliant, very inspired. One place to look for inspiration is the halloween costume market, some of the higher end pieces could easily be modified to what you are looking for.

The elements that may translate the best, from top to bottom

Possibly a cloth choker (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kSG08lzrOR4/SyHBm-qCNHI/AAAAAAAAAYI/kdb0FC2GA0E/s1600-h/lace+choker+stamped+02.jpg)or a kerchief/ascott (http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/44755000/jpg/_44755857_ascot.512.jpg) device draped down.
Large flouncy lapel on the jacket, very lacy lots of detail.
Overly designed mini jacket/half jaket. Big cuffs, matching button details from jacket front.
Take the long coat style and detail fromn the source and make a skirt out of it, leaving a bare midriff.
Tights or colored stockings are a good call, small lacy one leg garter to sell the period look.
To accent the frilly nature and tie in the collar detail I suggest ruffled ankle socks (http://www.fancydressfast.com/images/s29291_pink_ankle_socks.jpg)over the tights under the boots.
Lace up boots (http://www.victorianelegance.com/ve/vwc1007.jpg), light leather color.

This example of Olivia's art (http://people.desktopnexus.com/get/178414)is a good one for clothes and pose. Make sure to look at the full size version. Gotta love the Page.

Fix the pose and hat and this Playboy piece (http://cdn.costumediscounters.com/csc_inc/images/items/480x600/PE400198.jpg)is not to bad either.

My fav, Trashy of course, is this one (http://www.trashy.com/Swashbuckler-Jacket.6202-product.htm). Most of the stuff on their site is pure win!

Pirates (http://www.trashy.com/Pirates-bycatalog.htm)
Period Costumes (http://www.trashy.com/Marie-Antoinette-bycatalog.htm)

My work here is done ;) Continue your efforts, they are appreciated.

I like this pose, and holding the rapier as if it was a whip will add to the concept quite alot :) I'm digging into mel_danes's reference right now heh

Hello Magdalena, I hope too you are getting better and better, have a good care of yourself. I had an inguinal hernia operation last afternoon, losing a day from my pin-up but I'm home again ready for action heheh
