hi
im working on a poisen frog and would like to render him in 3delihgt....
this would be my first 3delight/renderman render so i could need some help...
if someone is interested i would upload my maya scene here with all the textures...
and we could render these beast as workshop or so...

Yes, I think you can get close result to your reference with 3delight.
the most important is the texturing work for the colored skin.
you can try with a mia material from mental ray, 3delight automatically convert it to a renderman shader.
with the mia you can get diffuse and a nice and sharp wet specular and a bit of fresnel reflection to give realistic wet reflected layer of your frog.
I 'am pretty busy right know but if I have time I could did few test with renderman. just need model and texture.

Ditto, Im really keen to get a renderman compliant renderer operating, 3Delight allows a 2core free license which I have signed up for so will watch with interest.
great to hear there is interest...
sry for the delay... im at vacation so it could take a bit longer...
my first steps in 3delight...
and i have no idea how to deal with these problem...
there are no reflections in my 3delight render...
created two objects with a blinn shader....
one spot light with raytrace shadows...
nothing else...
could someone point me in the right direction how to setup these easy scene...
3delight is really different from all other render solutions ive used...
feeling like a fool... :(
edit: and if i use a mia_material it looks like a lambert... hmm..
im sure there is something missing...
found the solution...
assigned a geometry attribute for visibility and set it to shader color...
but the mia shader still looks like a lambert.. :confused:
got the mia_ material working...
had to assign a geoAttribute "illuminate from"...
here my new aim...
id like to render this scene from escape studios "RenderMan Certified Courseware"

but i dont get the color bleed to work...
im using the envlight2 shader in the ambientlight...
any ideas what im doing wrong...?
