View Full Version : Finding Lost World

Long time I didn't an humanoid character. I'm doing this to practice organic modeling (tight one... no wrinkles or creatures this time...just studding human anatomy) and hard surface modeling.
This one talks about an Adventurous Girl finding a Lost World inside of an underwater cave. Here, she is out of the water some seconds ago and she is surprised about the beauty of the Lost World.
The breathing system is a little bit futurist, because is connected directly to the lungs (Air In on top, Out on bottom) and also have an auto-recycling system (that two big cylinders on back).
A lot of work to do until I'm happy with a final version. I'm working on the hair right now.
C & C are most welcome! Thanks!

I love it! Very nice hard surface design, I would probably add a bit of fine wrinkles on the suit where there is some bending happening.
Also the LHS eye looks a little bit like it was melting, like too open or maybe the eyeball is coming out too far.
Anyways, that's a great WIP, and I can't wait to see the next update on this one.
cheers

Indeed! Agree! Thanks Pascal!
Is fast to fix. Also, maybe, will put some wrinkles on the chest and torso, because of the weight of the hard surface.
Thanks once again!

can i ask how are you rendering it? could you post your process and apps ?

Sure dude!
I'm using 3DsMax for modeling, redering (with mental ray) and hair (using HairFarm), Zbrush for sculpting and textures, DeepUV for UVWmaps and Photoshop for textures.
The process is simple, just jumping arround between 3DsMax, Zbrush and Photoshop, tweaks here and there, etc, not to much extraordinary tips, just the normal ones for modeling + texturing + render.
I try to keep everything as simple as I can for tweaking and changes, like modeling (in this situation a clean and just the necessary polys), light (don't use more then 3 light on a set + GI + some special light - glows, lights to work in post process, etc), textures I do some mixes with photos and hand painted (50%\50% at the end), and try to work in the shader as much as I can, because some stuff can be done using a nice shading and no need to model everything (like the drops of water on the face and on the body, are displacement and bump generation from textures, is easy and fast to change it and to add some detail or path).
But, this is not a rule! :) Everyday I try to change my rules, keeping always in mind the major rule: get the best result with less work and less resources.
One more big text... grrr...lol
all the best,

Nice update  Maybe some wrinkles on the forehead to help the expression read better? Right now it almost feels like the eyebrows are in the rest pose, and only the eyes are wide open (maybe that was your intention).
One small thing, maybe you could put more color variation into the latex part of the suit, it seems a bit uniform and perfect right now imho.
Great work Malanjo!
cheers

Thanks Pascal!
Did some wricles on the arms joins, but can't see it to much on render... maybe is because of the dark color of the cloth.
Yeah, indeed, there is some weird areas on the expression (like it more in ZBrush), Will work on it tomorrow and will post it here.
Thanks once again Pascal for the tips!

Will try a pink on the dark latex of the suit. (maybe the same HUE used on the fins).
