thanks guys,

Think i need to work on my anatomy more. :)

Here is something i was working on this week.

Really unhappy with it, got so many corrections to make. Fell into so many pitfalls.

http://phrenzy84.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/victim_01b.jpg

Arms need MAJOR reworking
Hands & Feet arent even started
Major work on the quadriceps
Some reworking of the illiac crest
And lower legs need some attention

In fact i probably shouldn't have posted it but this will serve as a list of things to do.

and here is another character i started. About 80 minutes on this one.

cheers mate.

Regarding the videos I still have to record a few more sections before im happy. :)

Do you think people would like to watch the detailing process partial/whole? I get the feeling people wouldn't bother... well maybe i wouldn't because dealing on that level it's only at the very end you get to seen the whole effect.

Anyway I've been working on this for a few nights.

http://phrenzy84.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/stage2_clay_tn.jpg

Yes, there are tons of errors to be corrected. And even portions to be totally reworked but its been a while since i last updated you guys. (wtf is going on with the neck :))

I was recording the whole process for this guy, but a few crashes in a row... and i couldnt be bothered starting from the previous file.

By the way, this is all building up to an actual scene that i have planned. So the next update is one more male head. Then i will develop them all, Some work on the scene and start to block things out.

Cool wip! the inside of the ear seems to suffer from some stretching, did you use specific photo reference to compare with?
yeah the neck muscles seems to be a bit too far apart from each others.
Nice feel to it though, very nice.
I wouldn't bother watching a partial recording, although it is always nice to see the full process.

Keep it up

thanks,

yeah the neck is just awful and i only spent around 120 seconds on the ear. Normally i try to cover everything and bring it along altogether. But this model had a really bad start (due to some crashes).

So i had tunnel vision on the face until i could actually see a person there. Now i think it looks like an actor... don't know who though. :)

I will do some more work on this guy before i jump back to the 80 min model.

Ive been dying to work on some of the crits you mentioned Pascal...

But this week ive been tied up working on something else. Next week i will be working on all the models you have seen before this. The skinny man, the face in my last post. Even the 80 minute speed sculpt. And then on to the scenery.

Anyway, like i said past few nights, ive been spending half an hour here and there modelling this. All of it recorded from the very start.

http://phrenzy84.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/stage_02_002_tn.jpg

I don't think i need to say it, but it really needs more work. The eye and brow area need some major love. Nose hasnt felt the end of my brush in a while :p and the ears... well. Plus its looks too lumpy even for a chunky man like him, right?

PascalR
01-04-2010, 12:38 PM
Very nice wip, feels very organic. Apart from the areas you'd like to tweak, I think the little groove under the nose (keep forgetting the name on this thing) could become narrower towards the nose base connection.
It feels a bit loo lumpy, Hitchcock skin was smoother I believe (fatter) but your model's normals display is not smoothed so it doesn't help with this.
Some asymmetry would be nice as well :)
Keep it up! Can't wait to watch your vids too

Cool works in here. Love the mouths:)

For Hitchcock also check the jaw area. His got some major fat deposit just under the zygomatic arch. Above that it seems like the temple area by the ear is very concave or it appears that way because of the bulge under the chin and on the jaw. I think that will also help sort out a few issues with the ear placement. Because the ear lobe sticks out further than the top of the ear. Yours is the opposite way.

Great start though:thumbsup:

Cheers for the comments guys (means a lot coming from you since all of you are great modellers) and special thanks to Brett and Pascal for your crits.

It's really encouraging and makes me want to work much harder than i have been doing.

I was gonna wait to see if anyone recognized the most recent model, but i thought if you recognized him without me prompting you then i guess im on the right track.

Thought i would show how i assess my models. I used to write notes but they were never that useful, because i would rush and never know what i was writing about. Plus i had to be pretty descriptive in order to know what i meant at the time and because of that they would be pretty long.

this way i know what i need to work on just be looking at the image.

http://phrenzy84.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/stage_03_ma_tn.jpg (http://phrenzy84.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/stage_03_ma.jpg)

This is a light-ish version of one of my assessments.

Hope to start working and have an update later tonight.

and OMG im on the top row. Never been on anyones top row before. :bouncy:

Iv'e been working on this since Monday and i want to move on. I will come back to it. Ive got the videos of it that i have to cut and narrate.

IMAGE REMOVED - why? I hated it.

To be honest, the more i look at the the more i hate it:banghead:
There are still a lot of errors hopefully they will be addressed when i come back to him.

I want to get working on the other stuff in this thread.

So for now, "Good Evening".

:)

edit:// ive just seen the crease line down the side of his face. Its way too strong. Gotta fix that right now. :)

PascalR
03-04-2010, 03:02 PM
Looking nice and natural:thumbsup:
The nose seems a bit thick and flat on the top, I would have it slightly rounder and thinner (just a bit) and he had that scar on the chin which would be a nice addition to the model:

Cheers mate.

I must say the hardest thing bout doing this model was the reference was 1, It was pretty difficult to secure and 2, The age range. His face had changed over his career.

Here is a quick little update i did today. Just correcting a few errors.

http://phrenzy84.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/82091696.jpg

I rounded out the nose a bit more (little hard to tell with this image), i need to round out the bridge of the nose a little.

I will do one last update of him on Monday. Untill then i will work on the other stuff.

I just want to more on but its hard :D

This is from the male body a few posts up. Just starting out. Only 1-2 hours.

cheers, sorry about the lighting.

The reason why is he's gonna be lit this way for the final scene.

Really small update here. Broken a few things but mainly i modelled my first set of teeth (well the uppers at least). Which was neither easy or fun.

http://phrenzy84.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/stage_001_02.jpg

Mouth needs to be fixed along with a plethora of other things. So more dramatic updates soon. :)

No update tonight. I working on detail that isn't quite ready for prime time.

Either way Pascals new beethoven project reminded me of a model i did a while ago. Here it is.

Apologies. :o

It was late and i wasnt thinking.

Here is an update (without the beard).

http://phrenzy84.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/02-e1273183828732.jpg

I know this may sound weird but this has so much potential i almost cant post it as it is right now, i want to keep working on it but i must sleep. The proportions are so exaggerated and wild i cant wait to work on it more.

All asymmetrical which you can probably tell right now but i will work on that. :)

Next update will be a little more refined.

phrenzy84
08-05-2010, 12:25 PM
Here is a small update just a little refining. Had two crashes tonight.

http://phrenzy84.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/03.jpg

Just notice need to clean up the philtrum.

Still 100% asymmetrical.

phrenzy84

I've been lagging behind a little bit. Put in an hour or two more on this piece. Must get back to the Doleful Sighs model as well.

Nice sculpt, cool style. The lower lip outer line seems a bit sharp to me, just a minor note ;)

Keep it up!

phrenzy84
12-05-2010, 11:56 AM
cheers mate.

Yeah i've been taking a few liberties with the asymmetry, since i can mix things up that might work just on one side of the face but not both.

With the lip i have been playing with one side being sharp and the other side being a little softer. I actually think the mouth should be a little bigger.

Im working off an old sculpt and the lips are a little too sharp for my liking but it kinda works with the style of that day. So i guess i will see how it goes.

I will still work on them though, i will probably work on everything ive just posted. I have still to go up another couple level of subdivisions so a ton of detail has to be refined and reworked. (though i wont be giving this guy the 'pore' level workout)

:)

Quick update with the hair and beard with a little more on the forehead and left side refinement

http://phrenzy84.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/051-e1273699000552.jpg

Working on the body right now, and will get to the hair, and then refine the whole lot.

Sorry for the long absence. If been 'busy' and last month my PSU blew up, only just got my replacement the other week and im still trying to keep up with my podcast.

Anyway, gonna be finish the models shown so far. And then focus on one model at a time. Here is a start on this guy. ('bout an hour or less)

Cheers Adan,

Here is something ive been working on tonight. Its a model i started over 3 years ago and forgot about and now its time to finish it. Its not too technically demanding as i am not going to be strictly sticking to the human skeleton but i will be attempting to with the limited poly flow.

Anyway, here it is.... so far.

Concept by Eva Wildermann

phrenzy84

I guess i should explain what this guy is. He is a sort of Rock/Human/Zombie. He has a lot of cloth on him and the bulk around the wrist is gonna either be rock/sediment or cloth. Im going for scary though.

Right now i have roughed in the ribs, hands, and feet. Again roughed in. Next is refinement. Dont know if i should post that because it will basically look much tighter/cleaner and there wont be a big difference.

I have yet to add the ulna and fibula so the arms and legs are missing one bone each. Enough jibba here it is alongwith the low poly cloth

Just started on the head. Nothing major just yet.

I dont know at the moment if im gonna keep the beard in the same style as it is or model it more like the concept, which has it drooping to the ground and made out of rock.

I think i will model it but when it comes to retopologizing it i can choose to leave that section out.

Haven't worked on this guy much but thought I would share how far I got with him. I think this year I will be practicing a lot of texturing. As I think it's pretty evident how much i lack in this area. (in particular hand-painted)

Plus I think I rushed way too much (which is not like me, especially when doing something new)
