Hi there! This is my new wip. I'm not entirely sure where I'm heading, but I have some guidelines:
- He's going to be a human vampire.
- I'm aiming for realism, or at least close to realism.
- I picture him in old clothes, perhaps 1700 century.

The base mesh was made from scratch in modo with some sculpting in Zbrush. I'm going to use UvMaster in zbrush to create Uvs and use bodypaint to create the textures. This will be my first time using bodypaint for other than tests, so I'm looking forward to it. I will then assemble it all in 3ds max and use After Effects, og Photoshop for post work.

I would really appreciate feedback, as I feel a bit stuck with the anatomy at the moment. I want to have all proportions in place before I work on the head further. I have yet to work on the ear though.

Hey Henning,

Vampires are cool, are you using some photo references here?
I could do a paint over tonight to point out the areas I would change but I would recommend finding a good photo reference and stick to it at least at the beginning.

A few tips for now:
-cranium goes way too high, ie huge forehead
-lack of detail on the ears - need ref
-head too wide from side view, bring the back of the cranium and neck forward
-distance between eyes is too big - get them closer to each other
-smooth out the fold under the nose and make it actually connect to the nose base
And I would lower the mouth corner unless this is an expression.

I could keep going on cheeks and nose details but I think best way to go from here is to get a good reference to match.

Hope this helps, keep it up :beerchug:

Pascal,

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I was actually using photo reference, but I dont know what went wrong. I have now studies the reference much more thoroughly, and I feel I've improved him quite a bit.

I appreciate if you had the time to do the paintover :)

Hey Henning, looks much better.

Here is an animated gif for you to see what I would change (last frame is the altered version).

Cheers

Thanks a lot Pascal! Very much appreciated.

This is after a bit of tweaking and detailing. I'm also creating a texture. The texture is still a work in progress, so Im very open for suggestions.
This is the first time I've tried creating a realistic skin texture, but I think its turning out usable, though not perfect.

Cool update, I like the color map (ears need to get the stretching fixed), and I would add a bit more flesh mass around the mouth corners.

Keep it up!
