This is kind of an odd question and I wasn't sure where to post it, but does anyone around here use a trackball instead of a mouse while working? I've found that 10 - 14 hours a day using a mouse between work and school is really starting to hurt. I've read that trackball's do stifle some of the wrist pains and carpal tunnel. I'm just not sure how well it will work for doing any camera rotations etc while modeling. If anyone does use one or know someone who uses one successfully please let me know.

No trackball sorry but I use a wacom a lot which helps and when doing a lot of polymodelling with a mouse I have an "ergo rest" thingy attached to my desk, that really works. dorky but functional. I take the plastic 'detents', that make the mousewheel click, out of my mouse wheel too so it rolls smooth as its my fingertip gets sorest

I also use a wacom pen and tablet. I do everything except play Team Fortress 2 with a wacom, and I've even tried that once or twice. I think the last time I used a trackball was in 1998-99.

We have Space Pilots (http://www.3dconnexion.com/products/spacepilot.html)at work, but I've just never been able to get comfortable using it. A pen tablet is defiantly the way to go, but I find it helps to minimize the soreness. Either way working long hours your hand is bound to hurt. :(

I have a small wacom and didn't really think to use that for modeling, I only really use it to draw. I'm not the best at using it but I suppose practice makes perfect their.
I'm definitely gonna look into an ergo rest thing, I think that might be useful.
I have only seen videos of the space pilots but i don't really think those would be very intuitive.
Thanks for the info.
