Hi guys,

I thought I would try to do quick sculpts everyday and see how long I last :)

Here is a first one, from a cube in Zbrush, 1h30 min.

Thanks

That's a cool personal challenge !! So...we're waiting for today's sculpture! ;)

PascalR
30-12-2009, 09:29 AM
haha I am already late on schedule as I couldn't do anything yesterday:banghead:

I might have to move this thread to my doodles board, if I keep post poning these.
Sorry no update for today:(

gkaine

haha, great work regardless of your lateness!

PascalR
30-12-2009, 10:15 PM
ok, here is a new one, taken from one of my all time fav movie scenes ;)
Lots of rough areas(don't look at the ears), but hey it's my sculpt of the day (started from ZB box primitive) :p

Cheers

PascalR
31-12-2009, 07:48 AM
Thanks guys, I spent 2h30 on this one, could obviously spend a lot more time on it but I am going to move on and maybe try 3dcoat as I am seeing more and more cool stuff done with this app.

Cheers!

Pretty rough for a man of your standards...he he :) Still I admire the resolve for this mad task you set yourself clap. I nearly recognise the face but cant place it, whats the movie?

PascalR
31-12-2009, 03:09 PM
yeah, very rough, I just want to try quickies for a change.

So I just downloaded the 3dcoat demo and did this..thing... as a very first model using this app :)

Don't ask me what this is , but this software is a lot of fun for sure!

The surface noise of this model is very beautiful and realistic.

It looks like a walrus skull... but I think it didn't brush his teeth often enough

PascalR
03-01-2010, 12:03 AM
thanks guys, here is a new thing done in 3dcoat. I am starting to love this app :)

Good to see you are having some success with 3Dcoat, being able to build volume is its strength but I found it a bit uncontrolable and the viewport shading a bit vague for judging form shape. Looks great for freedom of expression though.

great sculpts! i have a couple modeler friends who swear by 3d coat. they usually start a model in it then take it to zbrush after the conceptual phase. looks like a alot of fun

PascalR
04-01-2010, 07:55 AM
thanks guys! I 've decided to merge this thread with my doodles ones, as it is kind of a clone/parallel thread and I realize I won't have time to model a head a day:(

Anyways, will post my next sketches here!

your first tests with 3dcoat are terrific pascal. keep them coming :)

PascalR
04-01-2010, 08:10 PM
Thanks Nicolas! I must admit, it is very easy to get carried away with complex shapes in voxel, so probably something I need to be careful with :)

PascalR

Thanks Collings! (and thanks for updatng the reference thread)
For the last one I was around 4 Million polys so I clicked on that button quite a few times yes :)

A lot of crazy sculpts in this thread. And your renderings are great!
3dcoat gets more and more interesting with every release. Just the feel of the brushes are not as good as in zbrush or mudbox.. not yet ..

Great work!

PascalR
22-04-2010, 11:03 PM
Cheers Manuel,

Here is a quick mudbox 2011 sculpt started from oglu's base mesh, available from the mudbox download page:thumbsup:
I've been recording this one for autodesk, we'll see how it goes.
Still symetrical, based of Beethoven's face :)

Good start! I would flatten the temples a little bit.
Unless you´re working on a sneer, I would pull down the outer edge of the nosewings.
I also think that the skull is too small compared to the face.

PascalR
23-04-2010, 11:00 AM
Thank you guys! And thanks Manuel for the notes, I totally agree on the temples, something I wanted to fix anyway

I'll probably open a WIP thread for this one :D

Cheers guys, Mauro and Collings I am afraid it would take me too long, but I had that rough idea of a short film with this fellow riding the beast. At some point the rider would fall from the cerature, the beast would get rid of the tech stuff and we would realize they belong to the same species :)
Thanks for the kind words guys:dance:

Excellent new sketchs my friend!
We could do a challenge for 3D artists. The idea is to create creatures made in pencil (traditional) or in photoshop!
That way we can know the artistic side of each artist.

The sketch is neat Pascal!, Its maybe a bit right centered at the moment, some light splotch or something on the left top third would maybe balance and help the eye circulate a bit smoothly.

Cheers,

Good alien's stuff!
Can't make anything good with 3dcoat, got V3.00 and i'm only using it for unfold uvmap, I' think i don't have the logic of the software.

But it's cool to see you making great models pascal.
Sorry for my unfortunate english!

great plant/alien creature pascal. the bird head you did earlier, was cool too. would love to see that more refined.

I really like the edge quality and opactiy at the top of the shot. Though not a big fan of the airburshy quality of the close buildings.

Also like the warm and cool contrast and how it's not overly demanding.
