I'm not going to post a new thread for every WIP I start hehe so here's one that I'll dump my WIPs into :)
I've been working on several projects lately [too many if I'm to be honest ;)]. Here's one of them - Blizzard's Kerrigan since I haven't done a chick or a monster really and she's both at the same time :) I really like the original [except for some things so I changed them]. Started polypainting the body but the wings still need sculpting so much more to go:

very nice sculpting and texturing, the color work is coming along nicely. the only thing I'm picking up on is that the arms feel like they could use a little more volume and the deltoids / upper arm connection into the pec area could use a bit more volume, it is making the shoulders feel quite small

Thank you everyone :)

I widened the shoulder area a bit - I agree it looked a bit too narrow. Finished the polypainting. I still want to add more detail into the texture itself and then it's the rendering fun ;)

beautiful work! So what would be your workflow here with the polypaint pass to render? Extracting color maps? vertex color only?

Great stuff:beerchug:

Thanks Pascal :beerchug: - extracting colour maps... already unwrapped her so it'll take a sec :)

OMG!!! what a nice work. I was thinking of modeling that my self too. I guess I shouldn't since you set the bar too high. LOL
Is that all in zbrush?

Intervain
25-02-2010, 04:02 PM
Tomaya - thank you very much :)

dr. kim - thanks a lot :) it's XSI + Zbrush - the images are screencaptures from Zbrush. The base mesh was done in XSI

I failed to work enough on it on the weekend and now I've started a mental ray course so I'll be busy busy for a couple of months I fear... she'll have to wait a bit more :o

Good luck with the course! I hope youŽll finish it one day.

Cruddy to hear you wont finish her anytime soon =(. I was dying to take that course myself but just couldn't afford it right now. Your renders are already great I can wait to see what they look like after the course clap

Greg - yeah I'm really happy I got a chance to participate - I got a free ride :D which I'm totally chuffed about.

Amazing work Magda, as always! ;)

thank you for the kind words guys :)

here's a bigger picture - I'm not really into doing anything with her now so I'll leave her at that and work on some other stuff instead... I feel I want to just do more sculpting instead of fully finished characters. Time to go back to sketchbooking ;) well I still have a couple of other things to finish first.

I've uploaded a turntable (http://mdadela.com/gallery/TURN/KERRIGAN_TURN1_1.mov) but any compressed version was just way too blurry to see anything so this one's big - better to save than wait for it to load ;).

Yeah really stunning piece and good to see a high res image. I know what you mean by wanting to move onto less time consuming projects :)

Absolutely great replica, almost identical to the original. Thanks for sharing the turntable :)
My congrats Magdalena, you keep producing top quality works!

Intervain
24-03-2010, 12:52 AM
thanks guys :)
loden - well it's a mix of the sculpture done by the mighty Steve Wang and the blizzard 3d model and one of their concepts - so it's not really exact with any one piece... but thanks :D I'm glad it looks like her!

a sketch - alien ambassador ;) - just some fun
http://mdadela.com/ssp_director/albums/album-12/lg/ambassador_sketch.jpg

and a little WIP - fanart piece - MERLIN [I'm a huge fanatic when it comes to this show and I think Colin Morgan's doing a wonderful job... I haven't quite nailed the likeness yet [especially in the eyes - they're off] but it's slowly getting there I think] I might print that one in the end:p

really cool! I would develop it more you know!

Lol, I really like ALien Ambassador, Hes how I imagine the wigged figure in the portrait that hangs in the british prime ministers office to look from Half Blood Prince.

Intervain
24-03-2010, 04:18 PM
hehe thanks Pascal :)

Marco - lol nah I've got another alien to finish - I'll leave this one as an idea :)

Manuel Poehlau -thank you :)

Chris - lol really? hehe I was thinking of a funny old chap :)

well since I've finally come back to this little guy I might as well post the WIP - this is MALEK a newspaper boy - alien based on a concept by the awesome Ben Mauro who was very kind and agreed that I can mess with his wicked idea :) I did the zbrush version some time ago - time to finish the chap... just imported the meshes to xsi [no maps so it looks very sleak ;)]

Interesting character. Just saw the original concept of this guy,and youŽve translated him into a 3d model pretty well. I just like this neck guard thing in the painting more. You made it pretty straight which takes away a little bit of the flow of the model. Overall it looks nice and clean. Good work so far :)

Intervain
25-03-2010, 01:12 PM
thanks - well there are 2 concepts of this character and they have different neck thingies and I couldn't make up my mind about which one to do - you're talking about the other one :) I might still change it - I liked the other one too
