Nice WIP Tomaya!
I like the first render with the blurred refraction. Are these Vray renders? Keep it up!

Nice renders. Beautiful refractions on the glass shader. On the last picture, of the sparkplug type object. IMO the bump dosn't look correct considering it's machined steel/metal.

wow awesome. At first I didn't think the outer shell forms were reading very well, but in the video its very easy to make out the human forms. I like the scratchy surface, it would be cool if there was some other organic textures on it, some leaky oil spots or general wear, even if its subtle.

Hi Tomaya
Its a cool idea and is looking pretty cool. I do have some suggestions that would help to lift the realism of the structure
The ball joint connection in the back, looks and feel like it has just been crashed together. What will show the attention to detail and hard work is to take these pieces to the next level, by making them look like they have been manufactured, you could create each half of the ball and the connection plate as one piece, or add some well lines around it. You get the idea.
The main connections in the arms need some extra structure to prevent the ball joint from popping out of the socket.
A trap alot of people fall into with hardsurface is that they start to reuse the same piece again and again and again, and it lowers the quility and overall attention to detail, and makes it look more like a quick and dirty attempt. So becarfull with all the pistons you are using around the body, dont hesitate to just change a few to be a bit thicker or a slight vairant on the design. It will make a world or difference.

Thanks for your comments guys ! Agree on everything John , exept : The arm joint can't pop out of the socket ,impossible ....it's very solid !
Thanks again

If you say its solid then its all good.
Just one professional giving another professional his thoughts
Great Stuff. Keen to see the finished piece :bouncy:

it was a joke of course... ...some big work left to finish it ! The idea is
to make her run only with compressed air ! So there is a little "technical challenge"...

Keep to post mate!!!
P.S.: carbon & glass shaders are really great!!

Looking Great
I have a quick question though. Is the rectangular box on the back the compressed air tank or does it house the compressed air tanks. I only ask as the rectangular box seems a bit out of place on the model. The entire model has a graceful flow to the design and shape and then there is a rectangular box on the back. Just seems out of place
My suggestion would be if it is an housing for the tanks to get rid of the box and show the tanks, typical round compressed air tank would suit the rest of the model allot better.
Somthing like this

And if you are stuck for connection, Try doubling up some with a Y connection

just my 2c

never see a design like this tomaya!
you are playing with the material like god can never do it! it's a joke! god pardon me!

thanks for your comments ! John , for me this box is just a "dispatcher " the air tanks are externals in another machine filling the robot with air , when it's done ,you set the robot free to run ...but i see your point , some bottles could be visually nice inside the model itself .....

man, i'm loving the lighting, shading and texturing here...keep it coming!
Hey Mate ! Very cool stuff !! Nice details, I like the scratch :)
I have 2 questions:
- Do you use the linear workflow ? I don't know how Vray works, maybe it's automatic like Arnold.
- Is it a 3D blur ?
Cheers

Vray does great stuff, but you set these up well, too! That's a fantastic look. I can't wait for some full-body renders.

i think so it 's a photorealisme question_but you know more than me is't it?

Thanks a lot guys ! I like the little details, saying to our brains that it could be real , i've made the scratches in this way , nice if it works !
Nzo (how are you ?:D) , i use Vray in a very simple way ,no big tricks , the key (for me) it's the blurred reflect-refract , you can see around you , most of the materials are blurred , vray materials are awsome for that. Defocus is full 3d (vray is also strong for defoc and motion blur).
Anyway , big work left ....cause the goal is to make it (her) run ...

you v'got a lot of works (and no time for me) but anyway i think the motion blur is not better than renderman's motion blur and i don't talk about the defocus...
I agree with you, blur reflect/refract is very important, but the linear workflow as well.
I didn't make a render for a while, but the last time I did an ibl render in mentalRay (in 2004, long time ago), the shadow was very deep or the specular so bright. I didn't know why.
In maya/mentalRay the difference between setup a linear workflow or not is huge. Linear workflow solved all my old lighting problem.
That why I wondered if you use it. But maybe vray tonemap everything automatically.
PS : I'm fine Tomaya :) thank you. What about you ?
