here is my wip space marine. im in the process of changing quite a bit though because his head is just a little too small in the suit. however, i cannot resist posting on this brand new shiny forum that is so great !

nice one, I like the stylized proportions of the head, but yeah I agree it feels too small when put in the suit. Also, maybe try to put some asymmetry in the face, or facial expression.
Are you using any reference / design ?
cheers

thanks pascal! good call on the asymmetry/expression. for the face i found some fineart.sk pic and just liquified it to get the style i wanted. as for the suit im just wingin it with random pics of astronauts and sci fi stuff
Cool, really and maybe yes, the head is just a little bit to small! :)

Cool update! The hips look a bit wide, but it could be a design feature. I just thought the hands may hit them quite often if he had to move around :)
Btw, you guys can now display your attached images at their full resolution within your posts.
Here is a short explanation:

THat's great, I really like the armor details !! Did you use zbrush/mudbox or maya to add all these very cool details ?

thanks richardr! i usually model all tech in 3dmax or xsi.
later i might add hyper detail in zbrush or mudbox.
and thanks pascal! i reposted the picture and tried to adress the issues you had brought up

Very nice hard surface modeling gkaine! And it's cool to see some extreme proportions for the shoulders, makes the head even smaller, but that 's interesting I think.
Are the extra shoulder bits supposed to make him fly? I can't help thinking of Buzz lightyear wings
Cool stuff Gkain

thanks guys, i wasnt happy with the detail or the design. i thought the detail was overwhelming and the tech wasnt flowing at all so i revamped it

Nice, I quite liked the details on the previous shoulders though, just thought the black extra pieces on the sides were not necessary.
Very cool that you are still happy to throw away a lot of your own work to make things better, that's the way to go!

Nice! Just something I wanted to mention about the shoulders shape.
here is a quick paintover to explain.
http://www.cgfeedback.com/galleryPascal/render58.gif
It is just a personal taste thing, and your version may be just as good actually:D
One thing I am wondering about the abdomen (in back), is this supposed to be a human part in a latex suit or something? If so, I think he needs some extra structure to help him carrying the weight of the top armour, otherwise I would think his spine would collapse ;)
I love the massive proportions from the rear 3 quarter view, just found his silhouette felt more fragile from the front view, because of the tiny belly.
Cheers!

thank you guys i appreciate it!
i got the new zb tonight and started playing with it :bouncy:
i am hving alot of fun concepting with it, i am gona blockout the rest of the 3d i think in zb then rebuild in max. so much faster than usual workflow

thanks pascal, the workflow is not much really. i just take the block out mesh into zbrush and sculpt quick ideas out until i like the look. its very ugly and never refined. then i decimate the mesh and bring it into max and build overtop of it to tighten up the mesh/detail
here is an update!

yeah I prefer it like this, just a personal taste/design thing, but the shoes look a bit too much like sport shoes to me. Also I don't really get how the back cylindrical part (piston) works, the way it is connecting with the heel.
Nice model though:thumbsup:
