I saw a thread like this on some other site, can't remember it's name now :sw:

A friend of mine from FB shared these links on his fan page about sitting correctly, they might be re-posts from else where but I found them very interesting (thanks Tharmine)

Personally I am starting to get back and neck problems from sitting all day every day and I rarely exercise which I intend to change soon.

I also read else where that Tamas recommended certain types of training (Kettle Bell?) Would love to hear more about this and from others if they have the time.

Some interesting links.

We got tables like that at school, they are freaking amazing. Its so good to just stand up and work every now and then, and really helps reduce back pain, it hasn't been a problem for me since I started using these tables.
I'd definitely recommend everyone who do so much sitting as we do, to get a table like that.

Thanks for the extra links Kel, very useful.

I agree Storm! How do you find it standing for so long? I can't imagine doing Zen like Sculpting for that long. You know when you switch off for an hour while sculpting some thing complex. I would be too concious of standing I think.

That is definitely a problem, its hard to do it in the beginning, but really its all about making it a habit. Your body isn't used to it, and you just have to force it to begin with. I'm still conscious of standing every now and then, especially if I've been out on a long run or similar the day before, and got sore legs. Buts really, most of the time I don't think that much about it.

When working its just important to sit in different positions, the physiotherapists connect to my school says that any new working position is a good position. As long as you don't stay in that position for too long. The real danger is when we really get caught in sculpting or whatever and stay in the same position for hours.

I think its all about forcing yourself into a habit of taking different work positions, and sooner or later, it just becomes normal. I've been using the tables for about 8 months now, and sometimes I really hate working at home, because I miss the ability to raise my table, I take that as a good sign ;)
