Hello everyone.

I will attempt to create The Scavenger, a character i drew some time back.

Starting my work with the Maya Nurbs Primitive i find it much easier to get the form out using this technique.

:welcome: Phoenix, glad to see you here

This is a cool creature, thanks for sharing your workflow. My only comment so far would be on the head design, it feels more like a fish head connected to an insectoid body. It would be nice to get some insect features back on the head I think.

Cool stuff, can't wait to see what's next here :beerchug:

cool drawings, i like the design, looking forward to see it progressing :) .

ps: i added a little thumbnails to your thread, you can change it if you want by attaching an other image instead of the one i put with the attachment system of the forum.

Hey thank you for sharing! This helped me a lot :P

Cool character just wondering how the wings will work, i might be wrong but wouldn't they make the back of the character rise up and the head go down for those wings it seem to be a lot of weight at the front of the character?

This is reference I base that idea off:

Also how come you switch between Maya to XSI?

Thank you tom :) really appreciate it friend. well it had occurred to me that i should make it fly but then i thought let the wings be there just as a part of design or something...

Ok did alot of work so here are more updates :)

Hey Phoenix, cool stuff.:)
I am not totally convinced by the teeth under the chin, wouldn't it make it hard for him to rotate the head ?
Also, I would define which areas are soft tissues or rigid insect like parts. I must say I am a little bit confused about the neck area as it looks quite fleshy right now. Is the torso going to be made of soft tissues as well?

cheers

Coming along very nicely! Are you using nurbs in XSI or is this polys now?

I agree with Pascal and Toms comments.

Concerning the wings, if you intend to keep the but make him flightless maybe you could make them smaller like they are vestigial parts evolution has not yet eliminated, or more ornamental so they might suggest another purpose, like for display to attract mates haha.

Cool creature! I like how you're blocking out the whole silhouette, some areas still have a very subd feel to them, which will certainly go away once you start sculpting this baby in ZB or Mudbox :)
Also the front claws seem very heavy for the thin wrist connection you currently have imho :) Eventhough this is a very insectoid feature, those claws still feel like the creature would need to put quite some effort to move them around.
Anyway, cool work
