Hey guys!
Here is my latest piece which was done for the Evolve3D.net Hunter Challenge.
One of my biggest inspirations for it was the Predalien of course.
Modeling done with Zbrush and Maya. Textured in Zbrush and Rendered in Mental Ray.
There is also more shots on my new website which can be seen here

Very good work but the image looks very blurring.

Really cool creature Gregclap
I think I prefer the grey render much better than the colour one. The textured render seems like it is a bit blurry.
Great design , thanks for sharing:dance:

i agree with pascal, the textured render don't do justice to the model, i also prefer the grey shaded render. cool model man:thumbsup:

Thank you all so much guys! I got rid of that image and re rendered it. It is much better now =) I think my DoF settings were what was causing the issue with it. Please let me know what you guys think now!
Thanks for looking!

Ah yeah that's better :) It would be nice to get some higher frequency details in there (finer color patterns) and some specular break up.
Right now it feels like it is the same material quality all over the creature, I would expect dryer areas, and very wet bits like the pink gum thing, mouth interior.
I would also add some dirt on the feet as your predalien looks very clean to me :)
Great work though!
Cheers

really cool sculpt you have going here. I dig a lot of the details you've done. I agree with what others have said though. I think you need some more hi frequency color, bump and specular. there appears to be the same specular levels over the entire model which almost makes it look like he's coated in vaseline. if you're using mental ray's skin shader you can get some really nice results out of the 2 specular layers that it contains.

Pascal - Thank you Pascal! I completely agree. The break up in texture quality would have helped make this pop much more. I was rendering him to look like a resin print and it didn't work well for the textured version. I learned a great deal of what not to do from this project :banghead: Big Thanks for the plug Pascal! It is greatly appreciated!
Peter - Thanks Peter! I agree as well. I will definitely improve upon what I learned doing this project. The shader I was using was actually the default Blinn just played around with the settings. It was the first time using MR and Displacements. Like I said, now I know what not to do on the project I am currently working on =/.
I appreciate the great feedback guys and I will push myself much harder on my current piece!
