I'm participating in the 3d Jam #4 contest and my theme is Zoe Saldana bust. She will be such as Princess Neytiry. But with the face of Zoe :)
It is fun art for my favorit film.
Can you tell me what do you think about this speed sculpting shape?

Hey kesha3d,
Nice start. I think the nose might be a bit wide though. You don't plan to do an "Avatar" style nose?

No. I want to make her nose such as Zoe have. :)
Thank for nose. I'll fix it.

Looks better in the last picture indeed.
Some crits:
It looks like she needs more upper eyelid volume, the eye bags curve could be smoother, the chin could come forward a bit more due to the expression, the nostrils need more volume definition at the nasal labial folds connection.
It's a bit hard to judge without having the photo reference you used, would you mind posting it please?
Cheers!

Does any of this help you?
The lip comes in and pushing out at the sides compared to your which comes out more in the middle, there also a line under the lip.
The jaw bone kinks in.
Nose its turned up more (that might be because of the angle your screenshot is).
That wrinkle goes straight and turns up.

Nice update. I think she is starting to resemble Zoe nicely. I like the improvements you've made to the chest as well, bringing it up higher has helped.
I wonder if you have considered making your still be like if she was wearing make up during the movie and is in the process of taking it off. So she would have normal skin tones at the face, and the look of rubbed off make up starting at her forehead and cheek area. This would be a great explanation as to why she doesnt look like she did in avatar.

Intent of this, to make her brown colored like herself. But with Navi's ears.
This color painting just for fun :)

Very nice update indeed!
A couple of things, the teeth seems to be too small(need more size variation) and the face looks a bit flat from the 3 quarter angle (I would bring the eyes back to reduce the distance between ears and eyes)
Nice hair! How did you make them?
Cheers

Nice! But I think the Navis´s eyes, especially the iris should be a lot bigger. Good work though

very nice, getting great!!
I like the hair what to done and I'd like to show my way to build this kind of the hair
http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/5996/hairuh.jpg
First create two polygon cylinders with
Radius 0.050
Height 2.2
Subdivisions 14
Subdivisions height 50
Then combine together into one mesh, go to Maya Animation part (left upper corner)
Create Deformer> Nonlinear> Twist. Look at value of picture.
You’ll get the twisted hair with straight line.
Next, we need the hair with beautiful curve, usually animators use skeleton Join tool to control.
But I don’t know how to use it well. So I change another way to control it.
Create polygon plane with
Subdivisions width 6
Subdivisions height 4
And align the plane back of the twisted hair, now select twisted hair first and then select plane. Go to Create Deformer> warp. Check the result, if you only select plane, the twisted hair will show purple wire, that’s mean you did a success job.
Now click plane with vertex mode. you can also press hit #3 , let the plane become smoothly mode
Play around.

I know this way, but I did have a problem with correct deformation :(

I would invest some more time for the bow, it looks too simpel compared to the rest. Good luck for the challenge!

Thank you guys. I'm gonna fix some parts of this model, and to change the plants by another ones, and I will do the bow with more details. I learn a 3delight GI tools to use this for advance rendering of my models in a future.
Because I wanna work in WETA. :)

This is turning out nicely. I find the rock distracting right now though. Its very busy and some of the features look less rock-like and more blob-like. I like the latest iterations of the body. Makes me crave for the rest of her.

Looks really good. Having the reference in the BG kinda shows off the differences though, notably the nose.

I don't think his idea was to re do Neytiri's face though, kind of a more human version of it.
Her LHS /wrist looks a bit thick and I am not a huge fan of the mud + leaves idea, but it's a pretty good model.
Cheers

It was a rule of contest. You have to make a bust of any character. :)
