Hey guys, I'm working on a Werewolf mostly inspired by the Underworld movies. Here is a few hours of work. Still very WIP and lots of work to do. Hope you like it. C&C always welcome.

Cool start, I would try to stay away from the usual werewolf look and find some ideas in the design or in the situation. Maybe sculpting it while he is transforming.
I quite like this concept by Laurel Austin (http://www.epilogue.net/cgi/database/art/list.pl?gallery=3683) for example (a bit gore + nudity)

Thank you PascalR for saving me from doing another "cliche" werewolf model. However, I have a question. unfortunately, I don't have the luxury to create personal projects just for fun. I am doing them to appeal to the studios within the VFX industry, as I am currently attempting to break in and get my first opportunity:banghead: Therefore, I have researched that it is best for a potential modeler to model from already established concepts and not try to create their own. I think this approach showcases to potential employers that I have the ability to take a concept and create a 3D model from it, without deviating from the concept as much as possible. That being said, do you think it would be a good idea to model the concept you provided me? I really like it, it's different, and I think it could make my portfolio stronger. I apologize for the long reply, but this is very important to me and I think you have the wisdom to help me make the right decision. Thank you.

Oh I see, you should then include the artwork you're trying to match so people can tell whether this is a good match.
Also, being able to create your own designs is a plus according to me for a modeler, as you sometimes could get very blurry designs to model. One would have to figure out a lot of things on a design level in those cases.

Thanks a lot for the insight Pascal. I decided to do a few sketches to get a better idea of what the final character should be. I plan to do a sketch of a more "human" look (mid transformation) and a sketch with more of a "wolf" influence (full transformation). Hopefully, you guys can let me know which one you like best.
Anyways, here is the first sketch. It took me about an hour. Let me know what you think.

good start on the new face, nice expression , maybe he could have the eyes closed a bit more.
I thought the transformation was supposed to be painful. Now he looks more like he wants to scare someone :)

You're right Pascal. For some reason, I was thinking of the transformation from "Thriller" where Michael Jackson yells "stay away!" Thank you for the correction. I hope this is better.

yeah that looks better, I think you could bulge the flesh out a bit where it is suppose to be compressed (eyebrows, nasal labial fold , and also I would smooth of the mouth corners. If you scream that hard, the skin gets stretched quite a bit.
Here is a paint over in case I am not clear.
cheers

I would also focus on the anatomy of the ears a bit more. Maybe play with how the shape of the antihelix and how it varies from human to dog.
