Hi Milanjo Its great, the cheeks by the nose maybe look a little round to me rather than stretched but Im just a cheeky amateur so take any comments with a grain of salt. :) Look forward to your next ones.

Cool stuff Miguel, did you use a photo reference for this? It'd be nice to see the neutral pose for comparison.
Keep it up!

Thanks guys!
tonytrout - Thanks dude! No no man! To me, all the critics are welcome, professional or not, what matter is the sense of everyone! Did what you suggested, and works better!:beerchug:
PascalR - Thanks Mr. Pascal! :notWorthy: I'm using as reference photos, sculpts and mirror, everything I can see who can help me to achieve a nice result is welcome! Did also a neutral\stand pose as you suggested!
work of today: Neutral pose, some tweaks in the Angry pose, and an Happy pose. Tomorrow will do one more.
Thanks once again for the tips and critics guys!

Happy is awesome clap
PascalR
14-01-2010, 11:53 PM
ah yeah, happy is cool. I am just thinking that the crease on the cheek is too deep or sharp. It would be nice to get finer wrinkles in this area I think.
An animation test would be great indeed:thumbsup:
Cheers

Thank you guys!
Yeah! Maybe will do an animation yeah!! Will see if I need some in between morphs\expressions or not, to have a nice flow, instead of a freak transition between poses.
Two more (maybe will do some small tweaks in all the morphs in the end...):

Love these new pics. Some window parts seem flat? Is it just texture or did you model them in? That van is awesome. Would be cool if it had surfboards on a roof rack :D
MiguelAngeloCBT
31-01-2011, 03:19 AM
Ah, thanks my friend!
Yeah, is all modeling (and then texture), maybe is because of the point of view (?)
Indeed! Nice idea with the Van! =D

That's some solid modeling on the portrait!clap I'm digging these latest accessories too. Kinda curious about your workflow there, if you don't mind - do you work off a concept or do you just design them in polys like that?
MiguelAngeloCBT
06-11-2011, 12:45 AM
Hello Alex, and thanks! :)
It depends. But in the majority of the situations, I grab some references and mix it all together directly in the modeling, after, sometimes, I do some paint overs to re-direct the idea. I try to let it go with the flow, opening the door for new things.
In professional projects, I try to follow the concept\references as much as possible.

Great work Miguel! interesting pose, I would tone down the temples and cheek bones which are going quite deep in. Cross and watch look pretty good too
Keep it up!
cheers
P.
very cool sculpture,i think the Wrist area is a bit narrow but other than that its really good clap
Fess1001
08-11-2011, 05:01 PM
I agree, the wrist on the hand holding the cross feels a little odd :/ I'd also maybe orient his right hand so that it's closer to the other one? I think that would strengthen the composition a bit, since as it is the eyes just follow through the hands and then kinda drop off the image at the bottom. You'd have more of a loop that way instead. Just my 2c. Cool idea though and looking forward to seeing how he turns out!

Looking cool man. The ref you showed me is one weird looking fella. So maybe just toning things down will help, like Pascal mentioned. Really like where this is all going.

Hi Miguel!
Great model. That's really cool.
I did a quick paint over of the hand if you don't mind.
Also I think if you rotate it a little bit it will look more relaxed and natural.
Cheers!

Dan - Thank you! Yeah, will drop it down\expand a little bit to see how it works.Doing the translate to the render engine now (exporting displacement, doing UVS, etc).

Really thanks for your kind words.
Brett - Yeah matte, I'm using Vray. Used to play with Mental Ray for SSS, but nowadays Vray's SSS is pretty good.

Hey Miguel.
I think it looks great. But seeing it with the eyes in the head and shaded it feels like they are too big making him look more cartoon and friendly. Normally the eyelid covers the top of the iris so that the pupil sits just below it. Also the ear looks like it has one colour on it.
The hair and everything looks great man. Love all the textures.

Hey bro! Long time,
Hope you enjoyed your vacations!
Interesting points, specially the tip of eyes+eyelid. Will keep it in mind for the next character work. Really appreciate the heads up. Thanks! :D
